On January 27, 2026, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Giovanni Lopez, DOTr Asec Donaldo Mendoza and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Director General Raul Del Rosario, accompanied by Area Manager Engr. Edwin B. Luching and Acting Airport Manager Engr. Roderick V. Tugade, visited Zamboanga International Airport.
The visit began with a dialogue between Director General Del Rosario and CAAP employees, during which concerns were heard and queries were addressed, reinforcing CAAP’s commitment to transparency, open communication, and employee welfare.
This was followed by an inspection of the airport’s ongoing development projects, including the rehabilitation of the runway, expansion of the Passenger Terminal Building, expansion of the vehicular parking area, provision of a covered passenger pathway, and the construction of a turnaround pad. These projects aim to enhance airport safety, efficiency, and overall passenger experience.
