The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has officially launched its nationwide participation in the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAWC), spearheaded by the Philippine Commission on Women with the theme “UNiTEd for a VAW-Free Philippines.” At the CAAP Central Office, the campaign opened with a VAWC Orientation held at the Civil Aviation Training Center in Pasay City.

Airports and Area Centers including Area Centers 2 (Tuguegarao) and 3 (Clark), Bicol International Airport, and Tandag Airport also commenced their respective activities in support of the campaign. In Tuguegarao Airport, a motorcade and the lighting of the Orange Tree of Hope were conducted in partnership with the Zonta Club of Central Tuguegarao and Zonta International.

By virtue of Republic Act 10398, which declares November 25 of every year as the National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of VAWC, government agencies like CAAP are mandated to raise awareness and help address all forms of violence against women and children.
