๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐: Aviation professionals from across the Southeast Asia gather at the Civil Aviation Training Center (CATC) in Pasay City for the opening of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Implementation Plan Training in ASEAN (GIPTA) 2.0. Hosted by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), the two-week capacity-building initiative runs from 19 to 28 May 2026.
Now in its second iteration since launching in 2024, GIPTA is a regional program supported by the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF). The initiative brings together aviation regulators, air navigation service provider (ANSP) representatives, and safety experts, among others, to strengthen technical knowledge and practical understanding of GNSS, including Satellite-Based Augmentation System (SBAS), Ground-Based Augmentation System (GBAS), and Aircraft-Based Augmentation System (ABAS) operations.
As a critical component of modern aviation, GNSS serves as the primary, space-based navigation infrastructure worldwide, providing the essential positioning and timing data that keeps aircraft and air traffic management operating safely. Over the next ten days, participants will focus on enhancing the rollout and seamless integration of these vital technologies across ASEAN member states.
