The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), through the Civil Aviation Training Center (CATC), welcomed 26 new graduates from the 15th batch “Sambisig” of the Airfield Lighting and Power Technicians (ALPT) Course on 19 March 2026 at the Civil Aviation Training Center in Pasay City.

The ALPT Course is a specialized training program conducted by CAAP through CATC to develop technical personnel responsible for maintaining and operating airfield lighting and power systems across airports. It equips participants with the skills needed to ensure the reliability of runway lighting and power supply; which are both critical to safe and continuous airport operations. Upon completion, these officers join the ranks of the Air Traffic Safety Electronic Personnel (ATSEP).

CAAP Director General LtGen Raul L Del Rosario AFP (Ret) congratulated the trainees, emphasizing that graduation marks only the beginning of their journey in aviation service. He encouraged the graduates, saying, “Continue to rise, continue to serve, and continue to be the light—literally and figuratively—that keeps the Philippine skies safe.”

The ALPT Course, alongside the Comprehensive Air Traffic Service (CATS) Course and the Communication, Navigation, Surveillance Systems Officer (CNSSO) Course, are part of CATC’s core training programs aligned with the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) initiative. Through these programs, CAAP continues to build a skilled and future-ready workforce that will help sustain a safe and reliable Philippine civil aviation.
