Under the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Strategic Plan for 2026–2050, environmental sustainability is identified as a key priority, with a global long-term aspirational goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions from international aviation by 2050. This includes not only reducing emissions and noise, but also strengthening the sector’s capacity to adapt to climate-related risks.

In this context, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and its partners’ recent initiative for the Upper Marikina Watershed contributes to broader environmental goals by supporting bamboo reforestation and community-based sustainability efforts.

By restoring ecosystems and strengthening climate resilience at the community level, these efforts support aviation in the long-term, while protecting the environment that sustains us all.
