On Wednesday, 09 July 2025, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), led by Director General Lt Gen Raul L Del Rosario AFP (Ret), actively participated in Cebu Pacific’s 2025 Safety Workshop at the Marriott Hotel, Pasay City. This crucial event united regional safety experts and aviation stakeholders to address pressing industry challenges and elevate air travel safety.

The workshop, themed “Breaking Barriers: Elevating Our Safety Commitment,” emphasized collaborative safety goals, risk management, and shared responsibility for sustainable safety in Philippine aviation.

CAAP representatives actively participated in panel discussions addressing critical topics such as Wildfire Hazards, Airport Infrastructure and Foreign Object Debris, Airspace Management, and the safe handling of Dangerous Goods.

In his message during the event, Director General Del Rosario lauded Cebu Pacific’s initiative, highlighting its role in fostering collaboration and providing vital updates on the evolving aviation landscape, which significantly contributes to improved air travel safety.

“Today’s workshop and all other safety initiatives are critical to achieve safe and sustainable Philippine aviation, and all of us play a vital role. Let us all continue to collaborate and work together to strengthen the safety culture in Philippine aviation,” said DG Del Rosario.

CAAP is actively boosting aviation safety through extensive digitalization, facility upgrades at its operated airports, rigorous audits, and regulatory updates. This is complemented by close collaboration with national government agencies, local authorities, and airlines to address the wide array of aviation safety hazards.

In line with these efforts, CAAP-operated Bicol International Airport (DRP) and Zamboanga International Airport (ZIA) received special commendation at the workshop for their pivotal contributions to major safety-enhancing initiatives, ultimately fostering a more resilient air transport environment.

CAAP’s participation in such events fosters a unified approach among aviation stakeholders, aligning with directives from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon to substantially enhance air travel safety and security.
