The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has officially launched the New Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) System Project following the procurement of a modern Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) system from Indra Group—a provider of technology solutions for the mobility industries including air traffic management systems and digital consultancy via Minsait, which serves the information technology sectors in Spain and Latin America.

The signing ceremony was held at CAAP Central Office in Pasay City on Monday, April 14, led by CAAP Director General Retired Lt. Gen. Raul Del Rosario and Indra Philippines Inc. CEO Diego Castillejo.

The ceremony was also attended by Sylvia Torices, the Economic and Trade Counselor of the Spanish Embassy in the Philippines, which highlights the importance of technical exchange and economic ties between Spain and the Philippines in the delivery of high-level technological solutions.

The initiative marks a major step in CAAP’s transition to a fully digital, integrated AIM system, ensuring more reliable, accurate and timely aeronautical information for safer and more efficient air navigation.

“This is a major shift toward aeronautical information management, in compliance with ICAO annex 15 standards and international best practices. This project demonstrates CAAP’s commitment to innovation, safety, efficiency and service excellence,” said lt. Gen. Del Rosario.

The new system includes capabilities such as a centralized AIXM (Aeronautical Information Exchange Model) compliant database, electronic AIP, digital NOTAM, charting and flight plan management. It will be implemented using Indra Group’s AviSuite AIS, and Wizard Portal AIM, designed to support modern aviation data management.

“We are honored to support the CAAP in advancing these critical systems. We sincerely hope this marks the beginning of a long-lasting and meaningful partnership. We look forward to continued collaboration between CAAP and Spain in navigating the years ahead toward sustained modernization.” said Castillejo.

CAAP emphasized that the initiative is a strategic investment in aviation safety, ensuring the country remains ready for future air traffic demands and evolving technologies, in line with directives from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez.
