On Thursday, 26 February 2026, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) welcomed executives from the National Housing Authority (NHA) and Zamboanga City First District Representative Hon. Katrina Reiko Chua-Tai to the CAAP Central Office in Pasay City for a special turnover ceremony. The event centered on the official handover of 36 lot titles to the NHA, marking a major milestone for the long-standing housing project in Armor Village, Barangay San Jose Gusu, Zamboanga City.

Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 531, which officially designated Armor Village as a socialized housing site, and following the full compensation of CAAP by the NHA, the transfer of these titles clears the way for the formal development of the community.
By completing the transfer of 5.6 hectares of land, CAAP and the NHA are turning a decades-long dream of land security into a reality, finally providing local families with a firm and legal foundation for their homes.

Located right next to Zamboanga International Airport, Armor Village has a storied history dating back to the 1970s, when it was initially occupied by Philippine Army personnel and civilian employees. As the area sits within a 150-meter aviation safety buffer zone, the Authority has collaborated with various agencies, such as the NHA, to ensure the parcels of land could safely and legally be used for housing without compromising airport safety and security.

The official turnover of the titles aligns with the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to balance the nation’s infrastructure needs with the welfare of its people.
This milestone stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to providing dignified, secure housing while ensuring that vital transportation hubs like Zamboanga International Airport continue to operate within the highest safety standards for the benefit of the region.
