Today, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) joins the global aviation community in celebrating International Civil Aviation Day under the theme “Safe Skies and a Sustainable Future for All.”

This year’s observance highlights the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Strategic Plan for 2050, a bold vision and strategic aspiration by mid-century, that is—Zero Fatalities: Net-Zero Carbon Emissions; Air Transport for All.

Since the United Nations General Assembly officially recognized December 7 as International Civil Aviation Day in 1996, this occasion has served to increase awareness of the critical role international civil aviation plays in the sustainable development of Member States worldwide.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) marked this milestone during its flag raising ceremony last 1 December 2025 where the ceremonial raising of ICAO flags was led by CAAP Director General LTGEN Raul Del Rosario AFP (RET) and the CAAP Service Chiefs.

Flight Standards and Inspectorate Service (FSIS) Chief Capt. Florendo Jose Aquino delivered the message of ICAO Asia and Pacific Regional Office (ICAO APAC) Regional Director Tao Ma, sharing, “Our vision is clear, a secure and sustainable global aviation system that connects people, cultures and economies for the benefit of all.”

In his message, Director General Del Rosario uplifted everyone’s spirits and reminded the CAAP community to take pride in the role they play in advancing the civil aviation sector, “ICA Day is about recognizing our contribution to the world. Dahil ang aviation, hindi lang tungkol sa paglipad ng eroplano, it’s about linking people, communities, opportunities, and firing up economies, and aviation is truly a very prestigious field and we should be very proud to be part of this sector.”

As we look toward the future, the Philippine aviation sector remains committed to ICAO’s leadership in fostering safe, secure, inclusive, and environmentally responsible air transport for all.
