As part of an ongoing nationwide initiative, the Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) recently conducted a two-day awareness and data assessment workshop for CAAP Area 8 personnel at Tacloban Airport from 19 to 20 August 2025.

The workshop was designed to enhance personnel knowledge and skills, giving them hands-on experience with Aeronautical Information Publications (AIP) and their compliance requirements to ensure Philippine airports meet international safety standards. The training also focused on standardized aeronautical data management and the enhanced Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) website, which are vital for maintaining accurate and reliable aeronautical data.

The two-day event gained active participation from a wide range of airport personnel—including airport managers, safety officers, aerodrome engineers, and air traffic personnel from Tacloban, Ormoc, Biliran, Maasin, Hilongos, Catarman, Catbalogan, Borongan, Guiuan, and Calbayog airports.

This initiative is part of a larger series of workshops that have already been held at six other CAAP areas: Area 1 (Laoag), Area 2 (Tuguegarao), Area 3 (Clark), Area 4 (Puerto Princesa), Area 6 (Iloilo), and Area 7 (Bohol-Panglao).

These modernization efforts, which focus on the safety, regularity, and efficiency of air navigation, reflect CAAP’s commitment to the DOTr and the Marcos administration’s vision for a safe, digitally transformed, and empowered aviation sector.
