Department of Transportation – Philippines Secretary Vince Dizon, together with CAAP Deputy Director General for Administration Atty. Danjun Lucas and other officials from the DOTr and CAAP, conducted an inspection of the ongoing development projects at Tacloban Airport today, 14 March 2025.

Among the key improvements currently under construction at the airport is a new and larger passenger terminal building, along with essential airport facilities such as a rescue and firefighting facility, motorpool and maintenance facility, and a vehicular parking area. Once completed, these upgrades will significantly enhance passenger convenience, safety, and overall airport efficiency.
With partial operations targeted for 2026, the modernized Tacloban Airport is set to boost connectivity, drive tourism, and foster economic growth in Leyte and its neighboring provinces in the Visayas. The development is expected to create new opportunities for local businesses, generate jobs, and strengthen trade and investment in the region.
This project aligns with the commitment of the President and DOTr Secretary Dizon to sustained progress in the aviation sector, ensuring that vital air transport infrastructure keeps pace with growing demands.
Through the DOTr and CAAP’s continuous efforts, the vision of a more accessible and modernized air travel experience for Filipinos is steadily becoming a reality.
