The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) was awarded as one of the top requested and top performing agencies in the eFOI (electronic Freedom of Information) Portal and for its exceptional and significant contribution to the Freedom of Information Program’s progress and development.
PCOO Assistant Secretary Kristian Ablan formally handed the plaque to CAAP FOI Officers at the Malacañan Palace grounds on Thursday, 20 December 2018.
The award is given in recognition of the efforts of government agencies in providing the public with relevant information, except for matters affecting national security.
In 2018, CAAP successfully addressed 103 FOI requests it received from various stakeholders wanting to get information about the agency’s projects, aviation statistics, and other information about the country’s aviation sector.
Under the leadership of DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade, attached agencies such as the CAAP are enjoined to actively attend to the needs of the information-seeking public.
The Freedom of Information Program was established under the provisions of Executive Order No. 2, signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on July 23, 2016.
